11 Current Stripes & Strikes Players, plus 7 former players, selected to Pennsylvania All-State Teams.

       MariaTrivelpiece selected First Team for 3rd year in a row

 

The Stripes and Strikes 18u GOLD Travel Softball Team had 11 of its current players selected to one of thePennsylvania All-State Teams.  Seven former players were also selected, bringing the total to 18 selected in all.  The teams were selected by over 240 sports writers and coaches.

 

     Senior Maria Trivelpiece was selected First Team All-State at secondbase in Class AAAA for the third consecutive year, the only softball player in Hazleton Area history to be selected First Team more than one year.   Maria finished as the school’s all-time hit leader.  She will attend Fordham University to play softball and major in Broadcast Communications.

 

     Megan Trivelpiece, just a sophomore, was selected as First Team All-State at Firstbase in Class AAAA.  Megan lead the team in batting average(.536), RBI’s (29) and extra base hits. She is only the second sophomore in Hazleton Area History to be selected 1st Team All-State in Softball. 

 

     Sophomore Adrienne Kroznuski was selected First Team All-State in Class A as a centerfielder for the 2ndstrait year.  She already holds the Minersville High School record for career home runs (20) and has smashed the hits records for freshman and sophomores, already blasting over 100!

 

     Junior Taylor Hoffman of Hempfield (near Pittsburgh) was a Class AAAA First Team All-State outfielder.  She joined Stripes & Strikes during her freshman season.  She has already verbally committed to Division I Liberty University in Virginia.

 

     Bree Bednarski was also selected as First Team All-State in centerfield (Class AAA). Bree has only been able to play travel softball with us sparingly, as she is a member of the USA Junior National Field Hockey Team.  She was our leading hitter in the State Tournament last year, and will attend The University of Michigan on a Field Hockey Scholarship.

 

     Former S&S star shortstop/centerfielder Rayanne Hawk of Williams Valley was selected First Team All-State Centerfield for the 2nd time in 3 years (Class A).

 

     Second Team All-State in Class AAAA went to Hazleton Area centerfielder Lexi Wolk (who was a 1st Team choice last year) and Northwest Area power hitter Maggie Murphy (Class AA), both star players for several years in the Stripes & Strikes program.  Wolk will play centerfield for King’s College and Murphy will play for Misericordia University.   Former S&S player Tiff Lapotsky (North Schuykill shortstop) also made Second Team.

 

     Four current Stripes & Strikes players were selected to the All-State Third Team (or Honorable Mention).  They are: Celine Podlesney (AAAA pitcher) at Hazleton Area (a 1st Team selection at DP last year),  Mikaela Browdy, shortstop at AAAA Hazleton (King's College), Leadra Ramos, pitcher at AAA Nanticoke (West Point) and MacKenzie Klinger, catcher at AA Central Columbia.

 

     Five former S&S players were selected Third Team:   Abby Sachse, AAAA outfielder Hazleton Area (U of California PA), Moriah Lynn, AAA pitcher at Berwick (Penn State-Hazleton), Kaya Swanek, AA firstbaseman at Holy Redeemer (Chesnut Hill College), Paige Siegrist, AA pitcher at Central Columbia and Rachel Gricoski, AA thirdbaseman at NorthSchuykill. 

 

     Stripes and Strikes will be holding tryouts for 14u, 18u and 23u (now called 18 and over) in early August.  Check our website at www.stripesandstrikessoftball.comfor exact times and dates of tryouts, which will be announced soon.
