STRIPES & STRIKES 14u wins USSSA World Series Qualifier Undefeated

 

 

PALMYRA, PA – The Stripes & Strikes 14u Fastpitch Softball Team swept 4 games in Palmyra at the USSSA 14u World Series Qualifier, winning an automatic bid to the World Series in July in Orlando, Florida.  Below is a recap of each game.

 

POOL PLAY GAME 1 – Stripes & Strikes 10      Frozen Ropes Lady Outlaws (Chester, NY) 3

 

                Kasidy Slusser drilled a home run, double and single, driving in 3 runs to lead Stripes & Strikes to a 10-3 win over Frozen Ropes Lady Outlaws of Chester, New York, by a score of 10-3.  Olivia Wolk also bombed a home run, adding a single and 3 RBIs.  Mollie Corbett lined a double and single, scoring 3 runs.  Cealinn Erbe and Kaitlynn Peters each added a single.  Morgan Wagner was the winning pitcher, allowing only 1 hit in the 3-inning game, striking out an amazing 10 batters, including 4 in one inning.

 

 

POOL PLAY GAME 2 – Stripes & Strikes 3      Hickory Hornets Black, Landover, Maryland  2

 

                Stripes and Strikes hung on for a 3-2 win over Landover, Maryland.  Morgan Wagner knocked in 2 runs with two singles.  Olivia Wolk rapped a double, while Cealinn Erbe singled.  Kasidy Slusser picked up the win on the mound, scattering 5 hits and walking only one. 

 

POOL PLAY GAME 3 – Stripes & Strikes 6      Virginia Explosion  5

 

                Cealinn Erbe drilled an RBI-single to centerfield in the bottom of the 7th to propel Stripes & Strikes to a 6-5 win over the Virginia Explosion.  Mollie Corbett, who singled twice, started the inning with a solid single to rightfield.  Kasidy Slusser reached on an error to the shortstop.  Erbe then drilled her game-winning hit to plate Corbett.  Kaitlynn Peters added a single.  Morgan Wagner came on in relief to pick up the win.   She hurled 4 innings, allowing only one hit and one walk, while striking out nine batters. 

 

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Stripes & Strikes  7         Hickory Hornets Black, Landover, Maryland  0

 

                Morgan Wagner fired a 1-hit shutout, striking out 10 batters in the 5-inning game.  Wagner helped herself with a sacrifice fly.  Sydney Thomas ripped two singles and drove in 2 runs.  Olivia Wolk drove in 3 runs with a 2-run single and sacrifice fly.  Cealinn Erbe and Kaitlynn Peters each singled. 

 

                Olivia Wolk was the tournaments leading hitter at .500, driving in 6 runs with a double and home run.  Mollie Corbett and Cealinn Erbe each hit .444.  Morgan Wagner was dominant on the mound, going 3-0 and striking out 29 batters in only 12 innings of work.  Kasidy Slusser was 1-0 in the circle.
