Stripes & Strikes 18u wins Mid-Atlantic 23u Travel League Invitational with 5-0 record

ALLENTOWN, PA – The Stripes & Strikes GOLD Travel Softball Team swept 5 games to win the Mid-Atlantic Travel League 23u Invitational Tournament at Patriot’s Park.  Stripes & Strikes (47-6) defeated The Dutchess Debs of Allegany, New York, 13-7 in the Championship Game.

Sarah Tuzinski singled twice, driving in three runs.  Ali Keener drove in three runs with a single and sacrifice fly.  Rebecca Rossi and Maria Trivelpiece each singled twice, while Bella Gorzkowski and Gabby Rakowski each singled.  Kasidy Slusser ws the winning pitcher.

Rebecca Rossi paced the offense with a double and single, while stealing 3 bases.  Bella Gorzkowski ripped a 2-run double, while Ali Keener drove in two runs with a single.  Jersey-Lynn Cook lined a bases-loaded double, good for 3 RBIs.  Gabby Rakowski launched a double, while Madison Kester, Kasidy Slusser, Kylie Herbert, Megan Trivelpiece and Maria Trivelpiece all singled once.  Sarah Tuzinski was the winning pitcher.

Sarah Tuzinski picked up her second win in the circle, with Kas Slusser picked up a 2-inning save.   Mega Trivelpiece broke a 3-3 tie in the 6th inning with a clutch 2-out RBI-single.  Madison Kester’s 2-run single in the 4th had tied the game at three.  Tuzinski, Gorzkowski, Rossi and Maria Trivelpiece each added a single.

Madison was 3-3, driving in 4 runs with a double and 2 singles.  Gabby Rakowski drilled 3 singles and scored 2 runs.  Sarah Tuinski was 2-2 with 3 runs scored and a sacrifice fly.  Becca Rossi singled twice and scored two runs.  Maria Trivelpiece, Ali Keener and Kas Slusser each singled.  Tuzinski was the winning pitcher.

Stripes & Strikes pounded out 18 hits, scoring 13 runs, in a 13-7 win over the New York team.  Megan Trivelpiece drove in 3 runs with a single and sac fly.  Maria Trivelpiece went 2-2 with a sac fly, while Rebecca Rossi singled twice and stole 3 bases.  Sarah Tuzinski singled twice to drive in a run.  Bella Gorzkowski smacked two singles.  Madison Kester had the key blow with a 3-run double.  She also singled.  Kas Slusser had a key pinch-hit 2-run double in the 5th inning to put S&S on top, 6-5, with two outs.  Kylie Herbert, Ali Keener and Jersey-Lynn Cook each singled.  Slusser went the distance for the win, scattering 7 hits.

Stripes & Strikes pitchers walked only one batter total in the five games.  Rebecca Rossi was the leading hitter at .563, followed by Maria Trivelpiece (.500), Ali Keener (.500), Sarah Tuzinski (.467) and Madison Kester (.429).  Kester drove in a tournament-high 9 runs.  Rossi stole 10 bases in 10 attempts, Maria Trivelpiece stole 7 bases in 7 attempts.  Tuzinski finished 3-0 on the mound with one save, while Slusser was 2-0 with 2 saves.  Stripes & Strikes GOLD (47-6) will play a doubleheader
