Stripes & Strikes off to hot 6-0 start at Boulder IDT

DENVER, CO –The Stripes & Strikes 18u GOLD Travel Softball Team is off to a 6-0 starti n the Boulder Independence Day Tournament, sweeping six games against some of the top team from around the country.

     On Monday, Stripes & Strikes (64-9)defeated the New Mexico Sundancers, 7-5 with Marissa Trivelpiece’s grand slam home run the big blow.  Later in the day, S&S upset the Orange County California Batbusters-Konis, 6-4.  Gianna Gombeda’s two hits and Ali Keener’s 2 RBIs lead the way.


     Wednesday afternoon, Stripes & Strikes downed Tulsa, Oklahoma Elite, 5-1. Kasidy Slusser hurled a complete game, striking out 9 batters and walking only one.  Gabby Rakowski was 3-3 with a double and two runs scored.  In the evening game, S&S pounded out 18 hits to defeat the California CASE,15-8.  Marissa Trivelpiece launched a 2-run home run, a double and single to drive in 3 runs.  Sarah Tuzinski went 3-3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs, while Gabby Rakowski blasted a 3-run home run. 

     Thursday morning, Stripes & Strikes shut out previously undefeated Minnesota Magic GOLD, 7-0, behind Kasidy Slusser’s complete game 4-hitter, raising her overall record to 36-3 on the season.  Madison Kester doubled twice and Gabby Rakowski singled twice, each driving in 2 runs. In the afternoon, the Hazleton Area team defeated the Southern California Breakers, 8-1.  Sarah Tuzinski picked up her 4th win of the tournament, combining with Kylie Herbert on a 5-hitter.  Ali Keener went 3-3 with a double to pace the offense.

     Stripes & Strikes (64-9) will play two more games today (Friday), at 6:45pm ET vs Virginia Glory (Virginia and Stripes & Strikes are the only two remaining undefeated teams in pool play) and again at 10:15pm ET vs Team Long Island, who has only one loss.  Saturday begins the single elimination Championship Play.
